Make a joyful noise unto God,
all ye lands: Sing forth
the honor of his name: make his praise glorious.
Psalms 66: 1-2
Whatever
your age, if you find joy in praising the Lord with song,
you’ll definitely find a place in our music ministry! FPC
has a rich tradition of excellence in the music we
incorporate into our worship. FPC’s music ministry welcomes
all who find joy in enhancing our worship through
music—playing an instrument, singing or both! We invite you
to join the sanctuary choir and/or the bell choir as we
worship through song every week and at special times of the
year, including our traditional Christmas in Newport
concert and our special musical worship service in June.
• The Sanctuary Choir leads the congregation in worship on
most Sunday mornings, Thanksgiving eve, Christmas Eve, and
Maundy Thursday. We invite everyone, from teenager to
senior citizen, and we need new members as some have moved
away or are unable to continue to participate.
• We are blessed to have musicians in our congregation who
enrich our worship services. Instrumentalists high-school
age and older are invited to join our Instrumental
Ensemble. Few churches our size are so fortunate to have
skilled players of piano, trumpet, trombone, bassoon,
clarinets, flute, cello, and violins, who joyfully enhance
our praise God through their musical talents.
• The Bell Choir participates in some Sunday morning
worship services and greatly enhances Christmas Eve and
Easter Services. If you have experience ringing bells or
would like to learn, we have a place for you. If you can
count, you can play bells. The Bell choir rehearses on
Tuesday evenings at 6:30.
•
Children’s Music Programs.
“Sing to him a new song; play skillfully and shout for
joy.” (Psalm 33:3) There are many opportunities for our
children do all these things in worship of our Lord. They
are given opportunities to sing songs, play instruments in
our worship service, celebrate the seasons of our faith,
and make a joyful noise to our Lord. There is a special
music time for ages Preschool through grade 3 before Sunday
school.
• Every few months we have an informal potluck dinner/hymn
sing ) when everyone has the opportunity raise their voices
in happy praise, singing favorite hymns and carols.
• We are blessed to have one of the finest organs in the
state. Our Casavante Brothers pipe organ combined with a
Rogers console adds richness and depth to our musical
offerings.
There
are also opportunities throughout the year for all Sunday
school classes to join in special seasonal programs. All
ages come together to celebrate, worship, and experience
together our Christian holidays and
traditions.
